WNY PRISM is currently accepting applications for a Slender False Brome Project Manager!

Slender False Brome (Brachypodium sylvaticum) is an invasive species of grass that has recently established in New York State. This species has demonstrated the ability to invade a wide-range of habitats and dominate these areas to the near complete exclusion of native vegetation. To address this emerging issue, WNY PRISM is leading a collaborative effort to increase awareness and improve management efforts for this species.

WNY PRISM is looking for a highly motivated candidate to take the lead on coordination of the Slender False Brome Working Group and implementation of the Great Lakes Restoration Initiative (GLRI) grant recently awarded to WNY PRISM for this project. The goal of this project is to develop a strong collaborative that provides the region with the information and resources necessary to effectively manage the threat posed by slender false brome. The position requires excellent interpersonal skills for communication with a diverse group of partner agencies and individuals, along with strong writing and organizational skills, and experience with invasive species ecology and management. In addition, this position requires experience with field data collection methods and analysis, meeting facilitation, supervision of seasonal employees, budget management, supply procurement, and development of outreach materials.
