SUMMARY:2023 ReLeaf Workshop: Invasive Species in Urban Forestry
DESCRIPTION:In this workshop\, speakers from WNY PRISM\, NYSDEC\, and Schichtel’s Nursery will discuss the New York State invasive species regulations; tree and shrub species that have invasive tendencies; and the importance of diversity in urban forests from nonprofit\, industry\, and statewide perspectives. \nAttendees will learn about the process for listing an invasive species on the regulated and prohibited species list\, how species are evaluated for invasiveness\, and species that have shown traits that may point to future invasive tendencies in a changing climate. \nThe afternoon will include a choice of a field tour of Tifft Nature Preserve or of the Arboretum at South Park\, so come dressed for the weather to explore. \nTo learn more and register for the workshop\, visit: https://nysufc.org/releaf-workshops.
