This program provides assurances to customers\, such as land managers and property owners\, that noxious plant species will not spread through these priority pathways. NAISMA upholds standards and guidelines\, promotes stakeholder communication\, and provides inspector certification training to ensure consistent participation across all jurisdictions. This session will review program participation requirements\, certification standards and implementation expectations. \nRegistration is required. Learn more and register here.

SUMMARY:WNY PRISM Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Hunters Training
DESCRIPTION:The eastern hemlock is a hugely important tree species upon which entire ecosystems depend. Unfortunately\, these majestic trees and the numerous benefits they provide are threatened by the hemlock woolly adelgid (HWA)\, an invasive\, aphid-like insect. Slowing the spread of HWA is one of the best ways we can help preserve our hemlocks. Early detection of emerging infestations is a great way to do this\, but we need volunteers like you to help! Join WNY PRISM’s Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Hunters Program to learn how to identify\, survey for and report HWA\, and then adopt a location to survey this winter! \nThis event will feature an indoor training at the library followed by an outdoor portion to practice how to survey for and report HWA. Please be prepared to spend time outdoors with appropriate clothing and footwear. \nRegistration is required by Wednesday\, January 15\, 2025. Register at https://bit.ly/2025HWATraining. Attendance is limited to 30 people. More event details will be emailed to registrants. \nInclement weather date is scheduled for Saturday\, January 25; registrants will be notified in advance of any changes via email. \nQuestions? Contact WNY PRISM at wnyprism@buffalostate.edu or by phone at (716) 878-4708.
