SUMMARY:Terrestrial Management Workshop: Invasive Trees & Shrubs
DESCRIPTION:Join WNY PRISM for a workshop on how to manage some of our most common invasive tree and shrub species! \nLearn how to manage some common invasive species that may be present on your property. We’ll talk about Best Management Practices for invasive trees and shrubs including tree of heaven\, buckthorn and honeysuckle. We’ll review manual\, mechanical and chemical methods with a focus on specific treatment techniques including foliar treatment\, cut stump and basal bark. We’ll have an opportunity to see equipment used for management during the outdoor portion. We will also discuss management planning and prioritization\, and we’ll review some native tree and shrub alternatives to plant after invasive species removal. \nThis workshop will offer the following NYS pesticide credits: 2 credits in categories 2 and 3a and 1.5 credits in category 6a. To receive credits\, you must register at least 24 hours before the workshop\, show up at least 15 minutes early (by 9:45 AM) to sign in\, bring your applicators license and attend the entire workshop. \nPlease register at: https://bit.ly/TerrestrialWorkshop2025. While you’re here you can also enjoy what the rest of the wildlife refuge has to offer as well as visit the neighboring Oak Orchard and Tonawanda Wildlife Management Areas and appreciate the importance of the whole landscape coming together to provide vital habitat for wildlife that live and pass through Western New York.
