Please see full job descriptions and apply online at: https://www.rfhiring.com/jobs.asp

The WNY PRISM Invasive Species Management Assistants (ISMA) will work closely with the WNY PRISM Terrestrial Projects Manager and partners to implement invasive species prevention, early detection, management, and habitat restoration projects within the 8-county WNY PRISM region. The selected candidates will conduct invasive species surveys and assessments, assist with priority invasive species removal and restoration projects, provide project reports and may assist with outreach events such as tabling at farmers’ markets or assisting with remote events or webinars. Invasive species removal efforts will include use of both manual and chemical (herbicide) methods. This is primarily a field position and the selected candidates can expect to spend the majority of their time working outdoors in remote locations and will experience inclement weather conditions.

The WNY PRISM Education and Outreach Assistant will work closely with WNY PRISM staff and partners to implement and expand our education and outreach programs and will report directly to the WNY PRISM Education and Outreach Program Manager. Education efforts are essential to the success of the partnership and are integrated into nearly all aspects of WNY PRISM’s work. The selected candidate will help maintain the WNY PRISM Listserv and social media accounts, prepare e-newsletters, develop invasive species educational materials, organize and lead virtual education events, maintain detailed records, and communicate with partners. In addition, the Education and Outreach Assistant will assist with invasive species management activities such as invasive species monitoring, surveys, removal and habitat restoration projects, as needed. While subject to change based on current federal, state and local COVID-19 restrictions, there may also be the opportunity to participate in small, socially distanced outreach and volunteer events that the Education and Outreach Assistant will help to organize and participate in.

Positions are full-time, temporary (40 hours/week, May 10-September 24, 2020). The deadline for applications is Friday, March 5, 2021. Please follow all directions, failure to do so may disqualify you from the position. Please provide a cover letter, resume, 3 professional references and a writing sample (E&O Assistant only) as a single attachment. Questions for the E&O Assistant and ISMA positions can be directed to Andrea Locke, Coordinator at lockeas@buffalostate.edu.
