Erie County Parks Hemlock Woolly Adelgid Training

March 8 @ 4:30 pm - 6:00 pm

Hemlocks are the fourth most common tree in NYS, and the hemlock woolly adelgid, or HWA, is an invasive species that is infesting our hemlocks in New York, including in the Erie County Parks, and can cause mortality in as few as five years following infestation.

Erie County Parks needs your help to understand the extents and levels of HWA in the Parks to be able to prioritize treatment. HWA Hunters is a program by the NYS Hemlock Initiative through Cornell University to survey and report infestations of HWA. Please join us for these upcoming free training programs at the Parks, and help to save these vitally important trees to the ecosystems in our region!

Please join a FREE training on one of the following dates.

  • Emery Park : March 8th 4:30- 6pm
  • Sprague Brook Park : March 14th 4:30- 6pm
  • Chestnut Ridge Park : March 15th 4:30- 6pm

Pre registration encouraged. Registration is at https://www3.erie.gov/parks/events.
