An important first step for management is understanding the presence and distribution of invasive species in WNY, so we are asking everyone to place their invasive species observations in iMapInvasives.

iMapInvasives is an online, GIS-based data system that facilitates the sharing of information and management of invasive species. This easy to use tool allows citizen scientists to report sightings of invasive species, which further allows managers to better implement Best Management Practices across the region.

WNY PRISM Early Detection and Approaching Region Lists
iMapInvasives provides Early Detection and Approaching Region Lists for PRISM Regions, based on the data they have collected. There are over 120 species currently listed under these categories for WNY PRISM. However, many of these are due to under reporting. Help us to establish more accurate lists by entering observations for some of these common species. Here are a few to start with:
European Frog-bit (Hydrocharis morsus-ranae)
White Clover (Trifolium repens)
Mute Swan (Cygnus olor)
Rugosa Rose (Rosa rugosa)
