WNY PRISM is Now Hiring for Summer 2026 Positions!

Join the WNY PRISM team and spend the summer gaining hands-on experience in invasive species management! Read on to explore each role and see which one fits your skills and interests.

The WNY PRISM Education and Outreach Assistant will work closely with WNY PRISM staff and partners to implement and expand our education, outreach and community science programs.

  • Assist with events, workshops and trainings.
  • Manage WNY PRISM social media accounts.
  • Capture photo and video content.
  • Prepare e-newsletters and educational materials.
  • Maintain detailed records and communicate with volunteers, partners and the public.
  • Support invasive species surveys, removal and habitat restoration projects as needed.

Expected timeframe: May 4, 2026 – September 25, 2026. 

Application deadline: Monday, March 2, 2026.

The WNY PRISM Invasive Species Management Assistants will work closely with the WNY PRISM Terrestrial Program Manager, Field Crew Leader and partners to implement invasive species prevention, early detection, management, and habitat restoration projects within the 8-county WNY PRISM region.

  • Conduct invasive species surveys and assessments.
  • Assist with  invasive species removal and restoration projects using both manual and chemical methods.
  • Provide project reports.
  • Support outreach efforts such as tabling at community events (occasionally).

Expected timeframe: May 4, 2026 – September 25, 2026. 

Application deadline: Monday, March 2, 2026.

The WNY PRISM Watercraft Inspection Steward Program is designed to prevent the transport, spread and establishment of aquatic invasive species while increasing public awareness of this threat. WNY PRISM Watercraft Inspection Steward/Environmental Educators (Stewards) are an essential component of this program and will represent WNY PRISM while working toward improving environmental health. 

  • Interact daily with the public at boat launches.
  • Perform boat inspections to remove visible aquatic plants and animals.
  • Provide public education and distribute educational materials. 
  • Assist with invasive species survey and removal projects.

Expected timeframe: May 19, 2026 – September 7, 2026 (Memorial Day – Labor Day) for Stewards; May 4, 2026 – September 19, 2026, for Lead Stewards.
