WNY PRISM is excited to welcome our 2024 Field Crew Leader, Hannah Rola! Hannah will supervise and work with the WNY PRISM Crew to implement invasive species surveys, removal projects, and habitat restoration efforts.

Hannah graduated from the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry (ESF) in 2022 with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Biology. Her experience with invasive species began as an Invasive Plant Biology Intern with the Maine Natural Areas Program where she surveyed for a variety of species in the salt marshes along the coast of southern Maine. After graduating she worked as a Plant Protection Aid with the USDA Animal and Plant Health Protection Service (APHIS) in Rochester, NY where she set traps to survey for the European Cherry Fruit Fly and Box Tree Moth. From there, she worked as a Park Stewardship Assistant with the New York Restoration Project in New York City, helping with forest restoration projects and keeping the park clean for its many visitors. Now she is back in her hometown of Buffalo, NY and is excited to be a part of the WNY PRISM team. When she’s not fighting off ticks and poison ivy in the field, you can find her going to concerts, traveling, or spending time with her sisters.

Welcome to the WNY PRISM team, Hannah!
