WNY PRISM is excited to welcome our new Aquatic Invasive Species Program Manager, Nick Farese! Nick will work to engage the public and partners in aquatic invasive species spread prevention and management. His primary responsibility will be to coordinate WNY PRISM’s Watercraft Inspection Stewardship Program, but he’ll also work on early detection and response efforts, additional aquatic invasive species removal efforts, facilitation of the WNY Water Chestnut Working Group, and collaboration with partners on regional priorities.

Prior to working with WNY PRISM, Nick studied the diet of Lake Trout from Otsego Lake using stomach content, biochemical, and isotopic tracers as part of his graduate work with SUNY Brockport. He also worked for nearly four years on a variety of fish population monitoring projects within Lake Ontario as a NYS Department of Environmental Conservation Technician. Nick completed his undergraduate work at SUNY Brockport and is currently finishing up his M.S. in Environmental Science from the same institution.

You can get in touch with Nick via email at faresenv@buffalostate.edu. Welcome to the WNY PRISM team, Nick!
